Monthly Goals Update and This Week's Goals

Well, when it came to last week's goals it was sort of a mixed bag type of week.  I got Thanksgiving done and out of the way and got a few Christmas gifts done, but that was about it.

I was hoping to get some more caught up in that regard today, but then my son woke up a bit after midnight with a stomach bug which led to a pretty much sleepless night for my son, my husband and I.  Luckily the worst seemed to be past by about six, so we all passed out (oh it was hard getting up to get my daughter breakfast this morning).  I had a terrible headache all night and most of today, which has finally decided to leave me in peace, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be getting much done tonight as my husband isn't feeling well now.

So, yeah, between two sick kids and just the general frenzy of Thanksgiving, not a lot got done in other areas.  But, I'm totally okay with that all things considered.

So, my goals for this week are:
1.  Dig out Christmas decorations.  Try to find a good wreath form to use or make (I'm pretty sure I have one of those I salvaged from a previous wreath, but I'll have to see if I threw it away or not).

2.  Wrap up gifts that I have boxed up so they are ready to deliver.

3.  Detail clean house (some of the sub list is seen above there) to get rid of germs from the kiddos being sick.

4.  Go in and talk to schools about possible substitute or aide positions on very limited hours.

5.  Weed through big container of cookbooks in den and get rid of the ones I don't need (the cookbooks were my dad's so it's taken me a lot of years to get to the point where I could get rid of some of them).

6.  Work on Christmas gifts.

7.  Work on goals for next month.

8.  Listen to Christmas music, breathe deep and try to find enjoyment in the holiday season.  Pray.

9.  Work on the endless pile of mending.
And there you are folks.  My goals for this week.  How about you?  Are you up to anything this week?

  1. I have not been able to post or read things in a while, but I am excited to catch up on your blog. Love all the gifts you have made, I doubt I will be doing much home made this year. I understand your financial concerns we actually lost our rental and have moved in with another family for now. I have some unidentified health issues causing me problems. So I guess we will continue to figure out where and how to put our things in our friends home. I need to make an appointment with an ENT to continue on path of trying to figure out what is up with my health. We hope to clear a spot in my friends place and put up each of our Christmas trees which I thought was nice of them to offer for us to do. Oh and we have to clean our her son's room to ready for bunk beds.

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your financial difficulties. And I'm praying for you that you'll learn what is wrong so you can start to feel better. Back in the first year of our marriage my husband got SO sick and it took forever, and lots of money, to finally find out that he had acid reflux. I remember writing to hospitals, labs and other companies telling them that they would get paid but right then all I could manage was 5.00 per month on the accounts due. The hospitals were actually really good about the entire thing. I was never so glad as when we got those bills paid off.

Glad to hear your friends are being so good about the entire thing and I'll send up another prayer that you will be able to find a cheap rental once your health problems are figured out. Good luck!!!

  2. Erika, the super cute My Little Pony embroidered throw pillow that you made your niece inspired me to make an embroidered throw pillow for my niece and daughter. I just finished my nieces pillow this weekend and it turned out amazing! When I showed my daughter, she literally begged me to let her keep it. I will be finishing hers this week, while she is in school. Thank you so much for the inspiration!!!

    1. Aw! That awesome! I'm glad they turned out so well. I always feel great when an embroidery project turns out looking like the thing that I drew on the cloth *laugh*. I set the bar low ;).

  3. Try selling some of the books online they might bring some hefty welcome cash.

    1. I actually had sold any books online ages ago that were worth anything decent. I was down to the books that tended to sell for .01 each on Amazon and such and knew that it wasn't going to be worth the effort to list and ship them. I went and donated the rest of the books today that I didn't want to a group of low income women who wanted some books to make gift packages for loved ones in assisted living types of situations (senior centers and the like). They were thrilled to get the books as they said they could make some gift baskets with some wooden spoons and things for some seniors they knew who were pretty much housebound during the winter. I was glad that they went to helping people out. My dad would have been pleased at that, I think :).
