And, if it makes you feel better, it's always cheaper to eat out than to burn your house down--:)

I always see it this way--if I'm frugal most of the time, than I have the money for the day when the unexpected comes my way, and then I spend it. Good luck finding a good deal when you spend your rainy day fund on a stove!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536514511090897212.post-76533996855278172052016-04-13T08:09:02.048-08:002016-04-13T08:09:02.048-08:00I used to get headaches and an upset stomach all t...I used to get headaches and an upset stomach all the time and I'm sure a lot of it was due to lack of sleep. Sadly, I've been dealing with my son's "newborn sleep cycle" (as I like to call it) for seven plus years now, so it was either get used to it or...well get used to it *laugh*.

He slept five hours last night, thank goodness, so I was able to get some sleep in. I'm feeling a lot more with it today, which I'm sure my house will thank me for getting it as I have a lot of catch up work to do today after being gone all day yesterday.Erika, "The Make Do Homemaker"https://www.blogger.com/profile/09303208981550053539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536514511090897212.post-488255188445782122016-04-13T08:06:06.823-08:002016-04-13T08:06:06.823-08:00I don't blame you. Parts are getting so expensive anymore (I remember about five years ago we had to replace a knob on our old stove at our previous home and the guy actually GAVE it to us when he priced out the knob at 40.00!!! For a KNOB!) that it's worth doing a cost breakdown on replacements instead of fixing things anymore. Odd state of affairs when replacing something might be cheaper than fixing it.

I'm having issues with my heating element too or something as sometimes my oven works fine and then other nights it doesn't want to cook anything and I end up cooking things for a good hour and a half longer than I should have to. My husband has some theories on that one. And then my dish washer keeps making a horrible shrieking sound as it runs from time to time (it's never constant) and my husband is kind of baffled at that one.

The most ridiculous part to all of this (to me) is that the appliances in my current home are only about six years old. The lifespan on things anymore is just sad.Erika, "The Make Do Homemaker"https://www.blogger.com/profile/09303208981550053539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7536514511090897212.post-10280871701311823912016-04-13T06:03:35.984-08:002016-04-13T06:03:35.984-08:00Sorry things aren't going well. Yesterday the burner in our oven started to glow bright orange, then sparks came off it at which point we turned it off. Of course my husband and I had to go somewhere that night, so we had a time line we were working within for dinner. So we ended up going out to dinner instead of coming up with a last minute meal plan. Two frugal fails in one night!!!

We have decided to buy a new stove instead of fixing the element as it is old enough that probably something else will go soon even if we do fix this problem. My mom and I are off today to price out a new one. My husband and I will buy it which gives us the option of taking it with us when we buy our own home (we're saving up for down payment while living with my mom and hope to buy within the next couple years).Rhonda A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/00448188064878559345noreply@blogger.com
